Custom Splints
Custom molding of splints either dynamic or static
can be made for the hand, wrist or elbow. If a splint is needed
the patient will be assessed by the therapist first to determine
what splint is needed and for what length of time. Periodic adjustments
may help to increase the benefits of the original splint. The patient
will also receive education for application of the splint, the wearing
schedule, and any home exercises that will enhance the end result.
Prefabricated Splints
If custom molding is not required then the assessment
will determine if a prefabricated splint will meet the needs of
the patient better. The hand therapist can insure a proper fit. |
